The new King Richard III Visitor Centre: Dynasty, Death and Discovery was born from the recent discovery of the last Plantagenet king, Richard III, which made front-page news around the world in 2012.

The former Leicester Grammar School building which houses the visitor centre overlooks the site where King Richard III’s remains were found. The exhibition is spread across two floors and visitors have the opportunity to gaze down into the exact location of what was Richard’s grave for more than 500 years.

"What we've got here is something that far exceeds any of my hopes and expectations. We've got some astonishingly imaginative work done by some very creative people who have used modern technology to take the history and to treat it very faithfully but to treat it in a way that is accessible to us in the 21st century."

- Sir Peter Soulsby, Leicester City Mayor
