In response to the request for invisible speakers in this prestigious 5-star hotel’s famous ballroom, Sysco researched and specified the utmost in discrete, high quality sound, video and lighting systems for the iconic 1930’s space.

""In current times, clients look for outstanding venues with excellent service and stunning design. We are delighted to offer back to London a space which exudes the glamour of the hotel’s founding era and is yet understated enough to offer guests a blank canvas for any type of event.""

- James Partridge, Director of Group and Event Sales, Dorchester Collection

As part of a 2-year refurbishment of The Dorchester Hotel in 2010-11, a modern audio visual and lighting system was installed into the famous ballroom, to enhance the venue’s capabilities for high-quality after-dinner speeches and banqueting. The interior designer’s original plan incorporated invisible speakers, prioritising the need to ensure the appearance of the 1930s Alberto Pinto interior was not disrupted. However, after carrying out numerous tests, Sysco proposed alternative solutions which would offer much better technical quality and still offer seamless integration, with colour-matched speakers installed discretely into the ornate ceiling.

The system had to be simple to operate and intuitive for non-technical hotel staff, yet flexible enough to allow visiting companies to plug in their equipment easily, without the need for unsightly cabling. The versatile system delivers high quality lighting and video, and even sound distribution across the entire Ballroom Suite, with no compromise to the hotel’s elegant decor.
